What is provided at Brookland Village?

Your Own Room

Your room is furnished with a double bed, bedside table, comfortable recliner lounge chair, 2 dining chairs, dining table, TV connection, small refrigerator and storage space.  Each room has its own ensuite toilet and shower facilities.  A tea and coffee making facility is provided within the community area for use at any time of the day.

Part of your fee includes electricity to the unit.  The telephone is connected for the Personal Emergency Response System and telephone calls will be charged to your account and payable on departure or fortnightly depending on your length of stay.

Support Services

Rooms are cleaned weekly together with bed linen change and supply of towel.  Laundry facilities are available for your personal use or laundry and ironing can be arranged for you at additional cost.

Our village bus provides return travel to the local shopping centre each week day and twice weekly to Mt Gravatt shopping centre.  Timetables are available in your unit.

Meals

Breakfast can be enjoyed either in your own room or within the community facility dining room.  Lunch and the evening meal are served in the community dining room.  Friends and family are welcome to join you for meals for a small charge.

The village "Take 5 Club" cafe is available to you and your guests, serving morning and afternoon teas/coffee together with sandwiches and slices for purchase.

Personal Care Assistance

The village can arrange for personal care assistance as an additional cost, which may include things as:

Security

The unit is located within the community area.  Entry areas are locked after hours, however you are provided with keys which ensures you are able to access your unit at any time.Press the button and you will be in contact with a Registered Nurse within seconds.

Personal Emergency Response System

Our Personal Emergency Response System provides prompt contact with a Registered Nurse 24 hours a day, 7 days every week - all at the press of a button.

Medication

All prescribed medication for respite period is to be provided in a Webster pack.

Pharmacy

Our local pharmacist provides a service to the Village with collection of scripts and delivery of prescriptions.  Account arrangements can be made with our pharmacy should you wish to take up this service.  Settlement of this account is made on departure.

Recreational

There is a planned recreation and social programme for all residents including respite residents.  Activities include indoor bowls, billiards, Nintendo Wii activities, cards, Social BBQ's, concerts and many more.

Mail

During your stay, any diverted mail will be delivered to the office by Australia Post and then sorted into your particular post box for collection.  Your outgoing mail can be left in the Post box located within the foyer of the village for posting.

Office Hours

Our office hours are between 8:30am and 4:30pm Monday to Friday.  With Care Facilitators and catering staff rostered over the weekend to deliver ongoing services to residents.

 

What should I do now?

Call our Village Coordinator on 3345 9143 to arrange a mutually convenient time to visit Brookland Village.  Inspections are most welcome.

Your application will be acknowledged and you will be invited for an interview and to view the respite accommodation.  This interview is necessary for confirmation of your Respite booking.  At a time closer to your planned respite we request that you pay a deposit and sign a Respite Agreement.
