At a function at Brookland in May 2009, Michael Fallon, Managing Director of Live Life Villages welcomed Dawn Fraser AO MBE as the newest member of the Live Life Villages team.

Dawn has taken up the position of Ambassador for Live Life Villages - to actively promote the positive philosophy of Live Life Villages - that retiring from work is not about retiring from life but rather an opportunity to actively participate in Life.

Dawn Fraser is known to Australians and indeed the world over as Australia's most successful and highly respected Olympian.  In addition, Dawn is also well respected for her active community participation and her positive outlook on life.

As a Live Life Villages Ambassador, Dawn is involved in a range of activities and events that promote positive and active ageing within the community

as well as being a spokesperson for Live Life Villages on the subject of healthy active ageing.

The Role of the Live Life Villages Ambassador includes a range of functions and responsibilities:

• promoting the Live Life Villages philosophy that Retirement from Work does not mean Retirement from Life
• promoting internationally recognised principles of positive active ageing
• promoting healthy and active ageing messages within our Villages
• promoting support for others through participation in Charity events
• encouraging activities to ensure our communities value and respect older people
• being a spokesperson for respecting and recognising the continuing contribution made by retirement village residents to our community
• explaining Live Life Villages programs and initiatives in assisting our residents and the wider community's awareness of programs available to assist them
• representing Live Life Villages at forums, conferences, meetings and media engagements
• attending meetings with key government and other stakeholders on positive ageing issues
